PLACEMENTS

Where we work

We rotate between 2 tertiary renal units (has transplantation) for our core renal training and 3 hospitals for general internal medicine (GIM).

The renal units are:

  • Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel

  • Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead Heath

  • Hammersmith Hospital in White City

The rotation in these hospitals cover the renal/transplantation wards and dialysis centres, including satellite units. Day to day work will be mostly at the parent hospital but may include travelling out to the dialysis units to conduct clinics.

The GIM hospitals are:

  • Whipps Cross Hospital

  • North Middlesex Hospital

  • Whittington Hospital

  • Wexham Park Hospital

  • Hillingdon Hospital

  • Charing Cross Hospital

At these hospitals, trainees cover the general/acute medical take during on calls. We operate as renal registrars (taking renal referrals locally and referring on to the tertiary renal unit if required) and cover a general medical ward on a day to day basis.
